Departing from Tbilisi* or Sighnaghi (or Telavi), join us for a private hosted tour-day through Kakheti, the heart of Georgia’s 8,000-year winemaking history.
Start your day with a pleasant walk around the Bodbe Monastery complex, established by Saint Nino in the 4th century as part of her pilgrimage to introduce Christianity to Georgia, the second country in the world to adopt Christianity after Armenia.
Then walk the cobbled streets and city walls of Sighnaghi, Georgia’s hilltop former summer retreat for King Erekle II, with views over the Alazani valley and the Caucasus mountains.
Visit an privately owned independent winery for a guided cellar tour, tasting Georgian grapes made two ways, traditional qvevri and European-style steel tank, side by side. Light snack board included.
From there, sit down to a mini-supra at a family home, with the Tamada (toastmaster) walking you through Georgia’s toasting traditions and the wine flowing freely.*
Learn to make Georgian dumplings khinkali as an optional add-on if you book it in advance – and then eat them as part of the Supra.
The Supra is a fully indulgent feast meal, but for tourists we offer a slightly shorter event than Georgians would normally indulge in – hence “mini-supra”, But don’t let that fool you into thinking you will not leave very full!

This has to be one of the best Wine and Food tours we have done. We got to feast on amazing Georgian cuisine and it was delicious!

If all you’re looking for is a wonderful day of drinking and eating, Eat This! has you covered, but it’s so much more than that, and you’ll be missing out if you don’t allow yourself to appreciate the depth of Georgian culture as shared throughout their tours. – reviewed on TripAdvisor
We had an amazing experience on this wine tour!
The three wineries we visited were all completely different in style, making the experience very diverse and interesting. No matter what type of wine you prefer, you will definitely find something you enjoy during this tour.
The highlight of the trip was definitely the final stop — having dinner (supra) at a local family’s home. It was such an unexpected and special experience that you simply cannot find elsewhere. It made the whole tour feel authentic, personal, and unforgettable.
This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and one of the most memorable parts of our trip. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Georgia! – reviewed on TripAdvisor
From Tbilisi to Kakheti (Sighnaghi) and back. OR Sighnaghi to Sighnaghi. Option for pick-up or drop-off in Telavi, please check the booking widget for exact final pricing.
This is the departure time if you are starting the tour from Tbilisi with your group. Please note that rush hour is from 8:45 to 10:30 a.m. This is why we try to start at 8:30 a.m. To avoid the main traffic and leave the city before it gets busy. Also, in order to get to Signagi and do the attractions in the morning and get to lunch at a reasonable time, we can’t leave too late.
If there are no Sighnaghi pickups on your tour, we make a short stop in Baadauri for fresh bread and cheese on the way through. A nice way to take the edge off before a day of wine. (This stop only runs when the itinerary doesn’t include a Sighnaghi pickup, since the timing doesn’t allow for both.)
If you’re starting your tour with a pickup in Sighnaghi, this is the standard time. It’s set to get everyone to the first winery and through to lunch (the mini-supra) at a reasonable time, and it means missing the Baadauri bread and cheese stop, which only runs when the whole group departs from Tbilisi.
Visit the historic Bodbe monastery complex and learn about St. Nino and the founding of Christianity in Georgia in the 4th century.
Walk the cobbled streets of Sighnaghi, which was King Erekle II’s summer retreat. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Caucasus mountains. Also, walk part of the city walls – the longest fortification in Georgia. Quick stop at the souvenir shops if desired.
Wine tasting and a mini-supra at a family-run, micro-producing winery (under 10,000 bottles a year), with the tamada hosting and walking you through some of Georgia’s traditional toasts. Snacks and drinks on arrival, a short cellar tour, then taste 3-4 wines and eat homemade regional specialties with the winemaker or their family at their home. Wine flows freely.
In 90% of tours the winemaker hosts in person. Occasionally they’re unavailable (we run tours daily, and life happens), in which case a family member steps in and knows the wines just as well.
Optional add-on, book in advance: khinkali-making class.
If you are returning to Tbilisi then departure approximately 3:45 p.m. to get back to the city before rush hour. For returning to Signagi as your final destination, we can depart a little bit later.
Departing the final winery slightly early to get back to Tbilisi before rush hour or slightly later to comfortably get back to Signagi by around 5 p.m
Currently this tour is only available as a private tour. Please check the booking widget for an accurate quote.
The price is the same whether you begin the tour in Signagi or Tbilisi. Our driver-guides come from Tbilisi regardless of where you start the tour, so our fixed cost for transport is the same as is the day rate for the guide.
Khinkali making class is an optional add-on and not included in this standard price.
All-inclusive, indulgent amounts of food and wine, with wine and snacks at the first winery and lunch (the mini-supra) at the second.
→ All food (snack plate at the first winery, mini-supra lunch with traditional home-cooked dishes and free-flowing artisan wine at the second), wine tastings (7+ wines total) and soft drinks as listed in the itinerary. Typically more than listed. (Khinkali class as a paid supplement add-on)
→ Safe and expert driver-guide, with modern, well maintained vehicle, working seatbelts and aircon.
→ Diet: Includes pork or veal, dairy / walnuts / gluten | Alternatives & vegetarian options by advanced request.
→ Pickup / drop-off at your Tbilisi or Sighnaghi accommodation.
→ Private tour – Note: we cannot prevent wineries from having additional groups at the winery at the same time you are visiting. If you wish the entire winery to be closed for your group for a private event, that would be a significantly higher cost. Please contact us first if that is your interest. But for the small family supra it is normally a maximum of two tables and hence two groups – but often you get the place to yourself.
→ Entry fees to all locations.
→ Bottled water.
→ Taxes & fees.
Tips & insurance are excluded.
Our premium tours are priced higher than budget or mid-range competitors due to our dedication to exclusivity, quality, authenticity, and fair compensation to guides and small family winemakers.
Our philosophy on price is: What is better value for money, a unique boutique dinner with premium wine, or eating a supermarket sandwich on a park bench with a nice view? Either experience could get a 5 star review, if the quality meets the price tag and exceeds your personal expectations.
Although we understand our prices may not suit everyone, we guarantee premium experiences surpassing cheaper alternatives, to which our past guests overwhelmingly give 5 star reviews and agree are genuinely worth the price tag. Learn why, below.

Our tours are priced with the exact cost (with fair pay to vendors) plus a 5% to 25% margin (depending on tour type and the number of guests) to pay our admin staff and be in profit (otherwise the business would close).
“Private” means your vehicle and guide are yours alone, not shared with anyone else. It doesn’t mean the wineries themselves are closed to other guests.
What’s included:
What’s not included:
No. The tour runs rain or shine. In heavy rain, the city walls in Sighnaghi may be less enjoyable to walk, so we can spend more time elsewhere instead.
Low. You’ll walk the cobbled streets and part of the city walls in Sighnaghi, and visit two wineries with short cellar tours. No hiking or strenuous activity.
Georgian lari (GEL) is the only currency accepted by wineries and shops if you want to buy wine or souvenirs to take home. You can withdraw GEL from any ATM, and your driver will stop at one if needed. The tour price itself is charged in GEL based on the USD rate at time of booking.
Occasionally, yes. Wineries aren’t always available on a given day, so the specific producers visited may change. The format stays the same, an independent winery for a guided tasting, then a family artisan winery for the mini-supra, but the exact venue can vary depending on availability.
We take you to exclusive, authentic, high quality places, not the mass tourism wineries and restaurants that pay kickbacks to tour companies for bringing tourists through the door. This is a private tour, all-inclusive, with extensive wine and food tastings, rather than the hidden costs and pay-as-you-go extras you’ll find at budget venues.
The price covers the exact cost of running the tour (paying guides and vendors fairly for what they provide) plus a margin of 10% to 30% to cover marketing, office staff, and running at a profit, otherwise we’d go out of business. That margin depends on group size and tour type. For 2-person tours, we actually subsidize the cost out of our own margin to keep pricing competitive, rather than penalizing smaller groups.
We price as transparently and fairly as we can, and we pay guides and vendors above average rates to keep the best people working with us.
Yes, with advance notice. The standard inclusions contain pork or veal, dairy, walnuts and gluten.
Vegetarian options are available (and popular in Georgia!) at all main meal stops but must be requested at the time of booking, as family hosts prepare food specifically for the group.
Vegan options are possible but a bit more limited as Georgian cuisine can be dairy heavy. Khinkali, on some not all of our tours (check specific inclusions for this tour), has a vegetarian (cheese) or vegan (mushroom) filling option by advanced request.
Vegan + Gluten Free as a combined need of a single individual is essentially impossible to cater for as this would restrict you to essentially eating a few vegetable dishes our small home cooks are not able to cater for something this limited unfortunately.
If you are full celiac (not just gluten intolerant) we do not have the scope to guarantee protection against cross-contamination in small home kitchens. It’s better not to book the tour if you would have severe reactions to gluten if any of your food accidentally had gluten in. Regular gluten-free is absolutely no problem though you will miss out on Khinkali and Khachapuri, Georgia’s two national dishes, we can’t offer gluten-free alternatives to this though we can sometimes substitute Khachapuri with Mchadi which is a west Georgian corn bread
If you have a serious nut allergy that could result in anaphylactic shock or other serious effects please ensure you bring an epi pen with you on the tour please ensure you notify us at time of booking that your walnut allergy is that serious and please advise the guide at the start of your tour where the epipen is and any instructions they may need on using it – or who else accompanying you would be responsible for using it. Walnuts are one of the primary foodstuffs in Georgian cuisine. We absolutely can cater easily for those who cannot eat walnuts. There is plenty other food to eat. But small cross-contamination risk is sometimes possible and cannot be avoided so it is essential that you are prepared for this.
Information on cancellation and refund policy is here: https://eatthistours.com/terms-conditions-of-service/
Yes. Since this is a private tour, there’s no concern about mixing with other (possibly tipsy) adults, so kids are welcome.
We recommend bringing your own booster car seat. There’s currently no Georgian law requiring use of these seats, though we suggest using one.
Yes, wine tasting is included throughout the day, with generous pours and refills at both wineries. If you don’t drink, that’s no problem, sparkling water, and often lemonade or compote, are already on the table, and there’s plenty of food and conversation either way. There’s no discount for skipping the wine, the price covers the full experience regardless of how much you drink.
Comfortable shoes are the main thing, Sighnaghi’s streets and city walls are cobbled, and wine cellars often have uneven floors. Bring a light layer, cellars tend to be cool even when it’s warm outside. Beyond that, just bring your appetite and some cash in GEL if you want to buy wine or souvenirs to take home.
Sighnaghi is around 110km from Tbilisi, roughly a 1.5 to 2-hour drive depending on traffic. That’s why we leave Tbilisi at 8:30am, early enough to clear the city before rush hour and make the most of the day in Kakheti.
Yes. If you’re already staying in Sighnaghi, you can skip the early Tbilisi departure and join the tour with a 10:20am pickup in Sighnaghi instead, no long transfer required
Both options offer a premium, all-inclusive look at authentic Georgian food and wine culture. To use a simple hospitality analogy: our Superior tours are like booking a beautifully appointed, quality room at a top-tier boutique hotel, while our Signature tours are like upgrading to that hotel’s top-floor suite. (Please note this is just a metaphor for the level of inclusions – overnight accommodation is not included in our day trips!)
Here is how the two package levels break down:
Premium Authentic vs. “Luxury”
There is a distinct line between our Premium Authentic experiences and artificial luxury. A luxury approach in Georgia typically prioritises styled, highly modernised chateaus designed to project a polished “luxury identity,” paired with cost-prohibitive VIP vehicles that drive up prices without adding genuine substance. Our Premium Authentic approach focuses entirely on the Real Georgia – with occasionally just a taste of the more modern for balance. We pair modern, comfortable, air-conditioned transport, careful drivers, and elevated authentic food and wine. We focus on genuine hospitality rather than venues that just look fancy on the surface. Sitting down with a winemaker at their family table to hear them personally explain their wines feels far more premium authentic than any high-end, modern chateau restaurant meal.
If I book a Superior Tour, am I getting a basic or scaled-back experience?
Never basic! We do not offer low-cost, mass-market commercial tours. Every single itinerary we run is built from the ground up to be a top-tier package. With a Superior tour, you still get well-kept, comfortable transport, a dedicated expert guide, top-quality food, and exceptional authentic wines all day long. If a Signature tour is out of your budget, the Superior tour still delivers a generous, uncompromised premium experience – just a little shorter, less indulgent, and hence less expensive.
7 Days Per Week (Apr-Aug). Replaced by harvest tour (Sept/Oct). Replaced by winter wine tour (Dec to Mar). And on-demand daily, year-round. 1-day tour taking a deep dive into traditional wine & food culture/history in Georgia’s most popular wine region, Kakheti. A fun, relatively busy day.
1/2 Day – With winemaker hosted Supra (feast). Make a quick trip to the closest wine region to Tbilisi, Shida Kartli, which starts from the old capital of Georgia, Mtskheta. Visit a UNESCO site and have a charming fun lunch with wine tasting at a small family winery.
