Shorter trip, less driving, lower price, same indulgent premium-authentic food & wine tours.

Traditional, home-cooked family lunch with a local winemaker and their family at their home. Learn to make khachapuri (Georgian cheese bread). Visit the famous UNESCO sites of Jvari Monastery & Mtskheta (the old capital of Georgia).

Explore a wide range of wines (8+ to taste), from 2 wineries, featuring grapes from the Kakheti region & Kartli region.

NOTE: This tour goes to “Little Kakheti” not the main Kakheti region. It’s way closer to Tbilisi than visiting Signagi or Telavi. If you want to go out to Kakheti, it’s 4+ hours driving there and back to Signagi or Telavi. It’s awesome, but a longer day and more expensive. Still, all our most popular tours go there. Check our Telavi: Meet The Artisans + Qvevri Builder Tour and our Signagi: Tale of 2 Georgia’s: Tasting Menu + Mini Supra (Feast) Tour for a longer, over-indulgent day.

Bookable as a private tour / on-demand / out of season.

What to Expect

Taste Georgia’s 8,000 Year Wine History in the fertile wine valley of little Kakheti.

NOTE: “Little Kakheti” is not the main Kakheti region. It’s a local nickname for a fertile area (around Saguramo) with a similar climate and grapes to Kakheti, but is actually in the Kartli region. It’s way closer to Tbilisi than visiting Signagi or Telavi in Kakheti. It’s 45 minutes from Tbilisi, instead of 2 hours. So you get to have a shorter day out overall but still visit 2 wineries, including a big traditional lunch. More time enjoying, way less time driving.

  • You are ready to explore Georgian natural wine but don't want to push your boundaries too far. This is an entry level trip for learning about Georgian wines.
  • Low level of physical activity. We mainly hang out at wineries and visit a few essential historic sites.
  • We squeeze a lot of fun and food and wine into 7 hours. But it's an easier day than our big 1 day trips to kakheti. A great intro to Georgian wine.
  • Focused on dry white, amber & red wines. Other options available by special request on a private tour booking.

The pricing listed in the booking form is the maximum price you will pay. This tour normally runs only as a private tour, but if you are willing to share, and others book (which occasionally happens) then the price will reduce as listed below.

FAQ

Is this tour weather dependent?

No. Bring an umbrella if it looks like rain, for the Jvari & Mtskheta visits, which are on foot.

What currency do I need to bring?

The only currency accepted by vendors for buying wine/gifts etc. to take home, is the national currency GEL. You can get this from any ATM and your driver will be happy to stop at one.

Purchase of our tours is normally in GEL based on the current exchange rate for the USD pricing of the tours. We’ll advise you of the exchange rate by email shortly before the tour date.

If I book at full price then the bus fills up, will I get a rebate? And when?

The initial standard price listed on our tour webpages is based on 1 adult traveling in a group of 2 to 4 people on a scheduled tour. Groups of 5 or more adults receive discounts. If you booked at full price and your tour ends up with 5 or more people after you booked, we will refund you any owed savings. This is done on the morning of the tour to ensure we know the exact number of people who actually took the tour, and can account for last minute sign ups and no-shows when calculating the final price.

The final discount will vary depending on the exact number of guests in the vehicle. We always honor discounts and will normally contact you about the expected final price the day before your tour, if it has changed since you initial booking.

Prices vary for private and custom tours (we’ll give you an exact quote based on what you want to book) as well as any extras you may book in addition to the scheduled tours.
